NEWS UPDATE
The Department of Yoga, School of Ancient Hindu Sciences (SoAHS), Aurora Higher Education and Research Academy (Deemed-to-be-University), successfully organized a Two-Day Workshop on 鈥淎natomy-Driven Yoga Therapy: Precision Alignment & Props for Healing鈥 on 13th and 14th June 2026 at the Uppal Campus, Hyderabad. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from yoga students, teachers, practitioners, wellness professionals, and members of the public, with a total of 27 participants attending the programme.
The workshop was designed to provide an in-depth understanding of therapeutic yoga through the integration of anatomy, physiology, precision alignment principles, and the effective use of yoga props. Through a combination of theory sessions, practical demonstrations, hands-on training, therapeutic sequencing exercises, and interactive discussions, participants gained valuable insights into the relationship between body structure, movement mechanics, and therapeutic adaptations in yoga practice.
The first day focused on applied anatomy, skeletal alignment, posture correction, movement patterns, and the physiology of breath, stress, and relaxation. Participants explored the principles of precision alignment in standing and sitting postures and learned how proper alignment enhances safety, efficiency, and therapeutic outcomes in yoga practice. Practical sessions enabled participants to experience alignment techniques through guided corrections and observation-based learning.
The second day emphasized therapeutic sequencing and the intelligent use of yoga props such as blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, chairs, and wall supports. Participants learned how prop-assisted practices can improve accessibility, stability, comfort, and effectiveness in yoga therapy. Specialized sessions addressed common conditions including neck and shoulder stiffness, back pain, pelvic imbalance, knee sensitivity, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and respiratory concerns.
A major highlight of the workshop was the hands-on practical training, where participants analyzed posture and movement patterns, identified alignment deviations, designed therapeutic yoga sequences, and conducted micro-teaching demonstrations. These activities encouraged active learning and helped participants translate theoretical knowledge into practical teaching and therapeutic applications.
The workshop was conducted by distinguished resource persons Mr. G. Surender Nath, Founder & President, Saroj Yoga and Wellness Centre, Hyderabad, and Mr. K. Dattatreya Rao, Founder & Director, Advaita Yoga and Wellness, Hyderabad. Their expertise and practical insights enriched the learning experience and provided participants with evidence-informed approaches to yoga therapy.
Feedback received from participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the clarity of instruction, practical relevance of the sessions, effective demonstrations, and valuable exposure to anatomy-based yoga therapy techniques. The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, certificate distribution, and closing remarks, marking the successful completion of a highly informative and professionally enriching programme. Overall, the workshop served as an excellent platform for enhancing professional competence, promoting therapeutic yoga education, and fostering holistic health awareness within the community
